JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is confirmed to be absent from the peak of the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2024 which was held by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Monday, December 9. He will be represented by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan.

As previously reported, the 2024 Hakordia commemoration has the theme Stature Commitment to Eradicating Corruption for Advanced Indonesia. Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Nurul Ghufron the theme is in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto.

"This theme is relevant to the direction of President Mr. Prabowo Subianto which was conveyed after his inauguration at the DPR-MPR Building some time ago. The President emphasized that the Government is committed to eradicating corruption through improving strict systems and law enforcement, as well as exemplary in creating a clean and collaborative government," Ghufron said at a press conference on Monday, December 2.

Ghufron on that occasion hoped that Hakordia would not only be interpreted ceremonially. This activity should be an evaluation of all parties.

Moreover, this year's Hakordia commemoration marks the 21st anniversary of the birth of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) or the United Nations Convention of Anti-Corruption. Where Indonesia is one of the countries that signed this convention. Indonesia has also ratified this convention through Law Number 7 of 2006 concerning the Ratification of UNCAC 2003," he said.

"Hakordia must of course mean more than ceremonial activities, but become a momentum for Indonesia to reflect, increase efforts that have been made, and continue the implementation of recommendations for the results of the UNCAC review, as an effort to promote anti-corruption values and increase the effectiveness of eradicating corruption in Indonesia," concluded Ghufron.
