Bekasi Police Arrest Midwives And Housewives Related To Abortion Cases

BEKASI Police succeeded in uncovering the practice of illegal abortion involving a midwife and a housewife in Bekasi Regency, West Java. The two suspects, DS (30), a midwife, and PP (25), a housewife, are known to have had an abortion using an abortion using an abortion drug.

Bekasi Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Twedi Aditya Bennyahdi stated that the abortion was carried out twice. The two suspects used misoprostol drugs to abort the pregnancy.

According to Twedi's statement, this case began when PP, who was pregnant with her fourth child with four months of pregnancy, decided to have an abortion. The reason PP, which already has three children with close age, is economic pressure and family conditions.

"On November 3, 2024, PP's husband, Anton Yusuf, contacted DS, a midwife at the Neska clinic, to order an abortion drug. DS then provided a misoprostol drug for PP," said Twedi, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 6.

PP used the drug on November 8, 2024. After taking the drug, he had a severe fever, chills, and contraction. He was then taken to the Mitra Keluarga Kalideres Hospital on the grounds that he fell. Shortly after that, the fetus came out in the form of a blood clot.

From the results of the investigation, PP admitted that he had bought the abortion drug from DS twice. He used the same drug in April 2024 to abort the pregnancy of his third child, who is only one month old in the Karawang area.

PP bought the drug for IDR 550,000 to abort the third child and IDR 470,000 for the fourth child. DS, which facilitates abortion, falsified a doctor's prescription from the Neska clinic to get medicine from Patricia pharmacy in Bekasi.

"DS falsified a prescription to make it look as if the drug was given on the recommendation of a doctor," added Twedi.

The police have detained the two suspects and are currently investigating this case further. They face punishment in accordance with applicable laws related to the practice of illegal abortion and document falsification.
