KPU: Winners Of The Jakarta Regional Election Can Be Announced Earlier Than The Schedule

JAKARTA - The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) stated that the announcement of the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada) winner may be carried out earlier than the original schedule, namely December 9, 2024.

"If the whole process goes smoothly, we can announce the winner of the Jakarta Regional Election on December 8, 2024," said KPU Jakarta Commissioner Fahmi Ziryptah, Friday, December 6.

Fahmi revealed that the recapitulation of votes at the city and district levels has been completed, and the next stage is the recapitulation of votes at the provincial level which is scheduled to take place on December 7-9, 2024.

"The provincial level recapitulation will determine the final result, including the percentage of votes obtained by each pair of candidates," explained Fahmi.

However, the KPU noted that the voter participation rate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada only reached 58 percent of the total 8,214,007 voters on the permanent voter list (DPT).

"This participation figure is an evaluation material for the upcoming election," he added.

The Jakarta KPU is also preparing the location of the provincial-level plenary recapitulation meeting before the official announcement of the winner. Fahmi hopes that all stages will run smoothly and the results of the Pilkada can be accepted by all parties.

"We are optimistic that this process will be completed on time so that people can immediately find out the results," concluded Fahmi.
