SAR Team Finds Body Of Man Victim Of Flash Flood In Sukabumi

The joint SAR team found the body of a man suspected of being a victim of flash floods in the Cimandiri River, Pajagan Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, on Thursday.

The victim is known as Sahroni (45), who was previously reported missing since Wednesday, December 4 after taking his son to school.

"Seeing the condition of the body, it is estimated that the victim died about 12 hours before being found. There were torn wounds in the lower left waist, chin, and other scratches that were probably caused by a blunt object impact," said the doctor guarding the ER at the Palabuhanratu Hospital, Sabrina, quoted by ANTARA Friday, December 6.

According to family information, Sahroni, a resident of Ciawitali Village, Loji Village, Simpenan District, was blocked by landslides on the road while escorting his son, Irwansyah (17), using a motorbike. To continue the journey, Sahroni exchanged a motorbike with his colleague who used a Honda Beat, because it was smaller and able to pass through the route.

After escorting his son, Sahroni crossed the same road to return home. Allegedly, he was desperate to cross a path that was submerged by flash floods and eventually slipped until he was carried away by the current.

The family began to suspect something when Sahroni had not returned home since morning, and attempts to contact him by phone failed. On Thursday morning, information about the discovery of an unidentified body on the banks of the Cimandiri River spread on social media. After visiting Palabuhanratu Hospital, the family confirmed that the body was Sahroni.

"After being shown the body by the morgue officer, we confirmed it was my father," said Irwansyah.

Sahroni's body has been taken to the funeral home for burial. This incident is a reminder of the importance of vigilance when crossing disaster-affected areas.
