PKB Please New KPK Leaders Work According To Community Expectations

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives has officially ratified five elected leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a plenary meeting held on Thursday, December 5. The chairman of the PKB faction of the DPR RI, Jazilul Fawaid, hopes that the new KPK leadership can work optimally in eradicating corruption in accordance with the expectations of the community.

"We congratulate you on working so that it is in accordance with the expectations of the community in preventing and eradicating corruption in the country," said Jazilul, Friday, December 6.

Jazilul assessed that the task carried out by the new KPK leadership was not easy. According to him, there are many challenges and obstacles that they will face.

Therefore, the former Deputy Chairperson of the MPR said that the new KPK leadership must be brave and work hard in carrying out the task of eradicating corruption.

"There are many tough challenges in preventing and eradicating corruption. Especially if you look at the large expectations of society," he said.

On the other hand, Jazilul added, in carrying out their duties, the KPK leadership needs it from all parties. Both from stakeholders, civil society, leaders, and the wider community.

"KPK leaders need support from all parties in carrying out their duties, because this task is not easy," said the East Java X electoral district legislator.

As is known, the five new KPK leaders who were ratified in the plenary meeting were Setyo Budiyanto, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, Agus Joko Pramono, and Johanis Tanak. However, only four leaders attended the plenary meeting.

Johanis Tanak, who is an incumbent as a KPK leader, did not attend the plenary meeting, because he was carrying out his duties. Based on the KPK Law, it is possible for the elected KPK leadership to not attend and remain legally elected as deputy chairman.

Setyo Budiyanto was ratified as chairman of the KPK in accordance with the results of the voting meeting conducted by Commission III. Meanwhile, the four deputy chairmen of the KPK who were ratified were Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Johanis Tanak, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, and Agus Joko Pramono.

After the ratification process in the DPR, they will be sworn in by President Prabowo Subianto.
