Three fake police officers who often claimed to be "Drug Busers" were arrested by the Palmerah Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Wednesday, December 4.

The three perpetrators with the initials AP (36), DP (18), and WN (18) were arrested after extorting a victim named Romadoni on Jalan Brigjen Katamso, Kota Bambu Selatan Village, Palmerah District.

Palmerah Police Chief Kompol Sugiran said, in his action, the three perpetrators were moded of accusing the victim of being involved in a drug case. Then they took the victim's money and valuables.

The gang of perpetrators also randomly chose victims on the streets. After getting the target, they stopped the victim.

"They showed signs of a fake police authority badge. They accused the victim of being involved in drugs. Subsequently, they forced the victim to hand over money and valuables such as cellphones," said Kompol Sugiran when confirmed, Wednesday, December 4.

This case was revealed when the Palmerah Police Opsnal Reskrim Team was conducting patrols at the scene on Monday morning, December 2, 2024.

Officers suspect 2 perpetrators who are examining a resident on the side of the road.

"When the officers approached, the perpetrators panicked and tried to escape," he said.

From this pursuit, the police managed to arrest the perpetrator with the initials AP (36) at the scene. Furthermore, the development was carried out until they succeeded in arresting other perpetrators with the initials DP (18) and WN (18).

"The evidence of a meat knife with a wooden handle, leather knife sarong, and a fake police badge was confiscated from AP's hands," he said.

Then the three perpetrators were taken to the Palmerah Police for further investigation.

The three perpetrators are threatened with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning Extortion with Violence and Article 368 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
