JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) revealed that one RT in the Penjaringan area of North Jakarta City was flooded due to the phenomenon of the new moon phase on Sunday.
"As of 15.00 WIB, one RT was flooded with tidal floods with a height of 40 centimeters," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji in Jakarta, Sunday.
He said this flood was caused by tidal flooding and water also inundated the road section on Jalan RE Martadinata in front of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Papanggo Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
According to him, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a warning in coastal floods or tidal waves on November 28-6 December 2024.
This flood occurred due to the phenomenon of maximum tides along with the new moon phase which has the potential to increase the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding (in the northern coastal area of Jakarta).
