JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) respects the ongoing legal process related to the murder case of MS's father and grandmother, a teenager (14) in Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

"For this case, we respect the legal process being carried out by the South Jakarta Police, especially the PPA Unit (Women and Children Service)," said KPAI member Dian Sasmita when contacted by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday.

KPAI expressed deep concern over the occurrence of a criminal case allegedly committed by this child.

KPAI immediately coordinated with the South Jakarta Police to ensure the implementation of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA), considering that the perpetrators were still children.

"We are coordinating with all parties within the framework of the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA) at the South Jakarta Police. Quick and appropriate efforts have been made by PPA Unit investigators by involving PK Bapas, the Indonesian Forensic Psychology Association (Apsifor), and the DKI Jakarta Province Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Service (DPPAPP)," said Dian Sasmita.

His party said that children's rights in conflict with the law during the legal process had been fulfilled, including the right to legal assistance and psychosocial assistance.

Previously, investigators from the Cilandak Police arrested a child for allegedly killing a 40-year-old father and his 69-year-old grandmother at his home in the Lebak Bulus area, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

The child also committed violence against his mother, but the mother survived. The mother suffered serious injuries and is currently being treated at Fatmawati Hospital.
