JAKARTA - The alleged criminalization of a 72-year-old grandfather in Central Lampung who is being tried at the Gunung Sugih District Court (PN) has entered the replica agenda of the Public Prosecutor (JPU). However, in the midst of the legal process, there was a change in the formation of judges.

The defendant's legal adviser, Alvin Lim from LQ Indonesia Lawfirm, explained that if the chairman of the assembly who led the case and chairman of the Gunung Sugih District Court, Fitra Renaldo was replaced by Ennierlia Arientowty on Monday, November 25, 2024.

"This is quite surprising in the middle of the trial, especially towards the agenda of the verdict, there has been a change in the panel of judges and there has also been a change in the Head of the Gunung Sugih District Court. Although there has been some speculation about this case, we still believe that there are still judges who are upright against law enforcement in Central Lampung," said Alvin Lim, to the media crew, Saturday, November 30, 2024.

However, Alvin hopes that Ennierlia Arientowty will pay close attention to this case.

"There should no longer be unscrupulous persons acting on behalf of the institution and acting on behalf of law enforcement to criminalize people. So we ask Ennierlia Arientowty's mother to pay close attention to this case carefully and carefully, don't make our clients like rice fields", he concluded.

As previously reported, the alleged criminalization of the 72-year-old elderly grandfather in Central Lampung is in the trial stage at the Gunung Sugih District Court.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Central Lampung District Attorney charged the defendant MS for 1 year and 6 months on suspicion of embezzlement of a generator.

Alvin Lim admitted that he was surprised by the case. He questioned how could someone who sold their own goods be punished.

According to Nathaniel Hutagaol, another attorney, the prosecutor has not been able to prove the source of the purchase of the generator they suspect was embezzled by the defendant.

"The money for the purchase of generators is from where and it cannot be proven that there is an expenditure for the Trikarya Manunggal factory for the purchase of generators, but lightly on behalf of institutions and the government demands a 72-year-old grandfather to be imprisoned", said Nathaniel Hutagaol.

Meanwhile, Ambarita from LQ Indonesia Lawfirm who is also the defendant's legal advisor suspected that there was another purpose for the change of formation.

"There is an unpleasant odor in this trial, this change of formation is a question for us, but we still believe that Mrs. Ennierlia Arientowty as Head of the Gunung Sugih District Court still upholds the value of justice in law enforcement," he explained.
