PADANG - West Sumatra Provincial Government (Sumbar) ensures that it remains committed to imposing a ban on indomaret and Alfamart retail operations. The goal is to protect SMEs and local entrepreneurs.

"We remain consistent with the policy because this is something positive for Sumbar," said Sumbar Deputy Governor Audy Joinaldy in Padang, Monday, after attending the inauguration of Nagari Mart Sungai Pisang retail, Monday, April 12.

According to him, this policy received a positive response from various circles outside Sumbar. He hopes local entrepreneurs engaged in retail take this opportunity.

"Actually if you want to create a retail business in Sumbar the opportunity is great because Indomaret and Alfamart do not exist," he said.

Audy ensures that through this policy does not mean Sumbar closes itself from outside investment but provides opportunities for local retail businesses to grow. According to him, the key to the success of retail business is to be well managed starting from operations, human resources, and others.

"All must have a good standard of operational procedures and standardized," he added.

If the management of retail business is not good then it will be difficult to develop and survive. Moreover, now the digital era can all be managed through information technology ranging from stock goods to financial statements, he said.

Including, said Audy, the problem of service should be able to provide the best to consumers, in retail businesses everyone can open a business so that there is no monopoly, and the key to winning competition is in service.

In addition, Audy advised retail businesses to make room for local SME products by creating a special corner for MSMEs that can be seen.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Nagari Minang Sakato, Nasirman Chan as the manager of Nagari Mart said the presence of Nagari Mart is an effort to facilitate the people in nagari to meet daily shopping needs.

"So there is no need to have to go to the city anymore in the management and cooperation of implementing a cooperative system," he said.

He mentioned that there are currently about 1,000 nagari in Sumbar and if only 10 percent are ready to work together to establish Nagari Mart it has been amazing.

In line with that, Chairman of the Kadin Sumbar Ramal saleh said that there are currently 600 thousand SMEs in Sumbar and if supported well then Sumbar already has 10 percent entrepreneurship compared to the total population.
