JAKARTA - Jakarta Deputy Governor Candidate number 1 Suswono responded to Deputy Governor Candidate number 3 Rano Karno alias Bang Doel who laughed at him because he voted in Bogor, West Java. Meanwhile, Gubernatorial Candidate Ridwan Kamil used his right to vote in Bandung, West Java.

According to Suswono, Bang Doel's attitude was strange because the rules state that every citizen uses their right to vote according to their domicile on their identity card (KTP).

In fact, he said, the rules allow any Indonesian citizen to run in any region in the Pilkada.

"Yes, it's okay, that's the KPU's rule, right, according to his ID card. Indeed, my ID card (Bogor), this is actually open public information, right, meaning that nothing should be covered up. Yes, because my status is a Bogor ID card resident, yes, I have the right to vote in Bogor. Same with Mr. Ridwan Kamil, right, his ID card is also Bandung, so it's natural, but he also voted in Bandung," said Suswono at his residence in Bogor, West Java, Wednesday, November 27.

"So I think it's wrong to laugh at that. Someone can be nominated anywhere in Indonesia. To become a gubernatorial candidate, a vice gubernatorial candidate, a regent candidate, a vice regent candidate, or a mayoral or vice mayoral candidate. Yes, that's our rule. It would be strange if he laughed at it. Maybe he doesn't know the rules, hahaha," he continued.

The senior PKS politician assessed that the 2024 Pilkada must be made relaxed and peaceful. Don't let the election be colored by mutual sarcasm and slander.

"Let's just relax this election, this Pilkada. Don't be too tense. We have committed to a peaceful election, one that doesn't need a lot of slander. So that we can grow a sense of statesmanship," he said.

"If it's called a contest, there must be a winner, there must be a loser. That's all. So don't make it long-lasting heartache. No need," added Suswono.

The Minister of Agriculture during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's era also prayed that the results of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada would be the best for the people of Jakarta, and also the best for the RIDO pair.

"Because once again, in the end the best results are the best from Allah for us. For each of us. I always do that," said Suswono.

Previously, the candidate for deputy governor of Jakarta number 3, Rano Karno, responded to the location of his rival's election, Ridwan Kamil and Suswono (RIDO) which was outside Jakarta. He laughed when asked about it.

"Haha, it's a shame. It's not what, it's a shame Bang Kamil voted in Bandung, Suswono voted in Bogor, lost those two votes, it's a shame," said Rano after visiting the TPS near his house, Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 27.
