JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy stressed that the government is currently focused on dealing with earthquake victims.

This was conveyed by Minister Muhadjir while visiting a number of areas in East Java that had just experienced an earthquake on Saturday, April 10.

"So now it is important to save those who are victims and guarantee their lives, the minimum standards are met. After that we think infrastructure," Muhadjir was quoted as saying in his written statement, Monday, April 12.

During a visit with Social Minister Tri Rismaharini, Muhadjir visited a number of locations such as Taman Asri Village and Wirotaman Village, Ampel Gading District, Malang Regency, East Java.

The two villages are among the two locations affected by the earthquake is quite severe in Malang Regency because it is a slab of earthquake slices.

He also explained that there are 40 houses that have been damaged lightly to severely. So that in the future, the government through the Ministry of Social Affairs will seek to provide temporary shelter for residents with severe and unfit housing conditions.

The location chosen for the evacuation of residents affected by the earthquake in ampel Gading sub-district is in Taman Asri Village Square. "Later will be equipped with a large tent for beds and a common kitchen. Incidentally, it is close to the school village hall so it is expected that daily needs, especially water can be fulfilled," he said.

The former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) also asked all residents with severe housing conditions and unfit to evacuate in the refuge. Moreover, aftershocks are possible.

"Earlier Mrs. Mensos had transported them using a police truck that residents to take to Taman Asri. Then there were pregnant, elderly, and seriously injured I asked to be taken to the Puskesmas," he said.

Furthermore, the handling of affected buildings will be focused on being rehabilitated and reconstructed after the disaster response stage by the Ministry of PUPR. "For the building will be seen later," said Muhadjir.

"Later the Ministry of PUPR will see all will evaluate whether these buildings are still worth maintaining or should be torn down new builds," he added.

Completing Muhadjir's statement, Mensos Risma stated that his ministry has distributed logistical assistance to people affected by the earthquake in East Java.

"Logistical assistance has been delivered, namely two trucks in Malang and yesterday one truck in Lumajang Regency. We've also prepared for them to evacuate. We set up a refugee post like in Lumajang. Because we don't know if there are aftershocks or not," he said.

During the visit, Risma has also met pregnant women who are about to give birth and instructed her ranks to give them immediate treatment.

Not only that, he also asked the elderly to get a safer temporary evacuation location.
