Huawei Encourages Digital Transformation To Achieve Carbon Neutrality

JAKARTA Less than two weeks ago, Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PLN. Now, Huawei says that it has accelerated digital transformation and the transition to renewable energy.

These two things are done by utilizing cutting-edge technology which is considered to be able to bring Indonesia to achieve carbon neutrality targets and sustainable environmental management.

The focus of this development is carried out in various sectors, especially the electric power industry.

Huawei, in its recent Electricity Connect 2024 event, said it continues to encourage the use of growing digital technologies such as 5G, cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and others in order to revolutionize the industry.

However, this transformation is not easy because infrastructure in Indonesia is still limited. Like the need for solar PV, for example. To support renewable energy, solar PV needs to be developed more because the number of registered electric vehicles continues to grow.

"The number of registered electric vehicles has also doubled, reaching 2,704 units," said Jason Li, President of Global Marketing and Solutions for Huawei Electric Power Digitalization Business Unit. "This series of changes presents a huge challenge to power companies."

In order for this challenge to be faced, Jason stated that solid digital infrastructure development is very much needed. This development needs to use advanced architectures such as Huawei's Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS).

"IDS is based on cloud-pipe-edge-pipe-device architecture, which allows the passage from one-point digitization to open, sustainable, and systematic digitization," Jason said.

"IDS has helped detect various problems in Europe and Africa," he added.
