The Head Of Bawaslu Asks For Minimum TPS Supervisors To Require 9 Years Of Basic Education

Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja said that the supervisor of polling stations (TPS) is at least nine years of basic education.

This step was taken because Bawaslu had difficulty finding a TPS supervisor who had minimum high school qualifications outside Java.

"We ask that if there is none, by the end of the four days, the existing education is forced. (It is mandatory) to study for nine years, like it or not," said Bagja quoting Antara.

According to him, with basic education qualifications, the TPS supervisor is believed to be able to read, write, calculate and correct calculations during the 2024 Pilkada vote.

"The important thing is that the TPS supervisor can read, write, times, add, less. Fixing calculations and others at the TPS. Where do our government have its name? It is mandatory for basic education," he explained.

Currently, Indonesia is preparing for the simultaneous regional elections which will take place on November 27, 2024.

Previously, at the end of September 2024, the Indonesian KPU announced that there were 1,553 pairs of regional head candidates and deputy regional heads participating in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in 37 provinces, 415 districts, and 93 cities.
