Kaltara Ready To Become A Strategic Support For IKN

TANJUNG SELOR (Pjs) Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Togap Simangunsong emphasized that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Kaltara is committed to being the main buffer in supporting the development of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan (Kaltim).

The province of Kaltara has a large and fertile agricultural land. We are ready to increase food production, such as rice, to meet IKN needs," said Togap Simangunsong, Thursday, November 21.

Not only that, Kaltara also offers strategic raw materials such as limestone and bricks, which are considered to be able to accelerate the development of IKN infrastructure.

"We are optimistic that this potential can make a significant contribution, both to the provision of building materials and development logistics," he added.

Togap also explained the wealth of Kaltara's natural resources, especially in the fisheries and forestry sectors. According to him, these two sectors have the potential to become a sustainable source of supply for IKN needs.

"We are committed to managing natural resources wisely, ensuring a balance between the use and preservation of the environment," he explained.

One of Kaltara's other powers is the existence of the North Kalimantan Industrial Estate (KIPI), which continues to grow rapidly. He said this area was able to become a production center for the IKN supporting industry, especially for the building and logistics materials sector.

"KIPI is ready to support industrial needs in IKN with an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach," he added.

In terms of transportation, Kaltara has strategic infrastructure, both land and sea routes, making it easier to distribute goods to IKN. Togap said that several sea routes from Kaltara allowed logistics delivery in a short time.

"The transportation we have is one of the keys to smoothing the distribution of IKN needs," said Togap.

As a strategic step, the North Kalimantan Provincial Government has prepared a priority program for the 2025 fiscal year. The program includes increasing food production, industrial development, and strengthening infrastructure to support IKN needs.

"We continue to coordinate with the central government to ensure that Kaltara is ready to become the main supporter of IKN," said Togap.

He also hopes that Kaltara's contribution to IKN development will have a positive impact on the regional economy, especially in creating new jobs and improving the welfare of the community.
