Highlighting The Case Of The Methamphetamine Party In Cells, Commission XIII Of The House Of Representatives Encourages 'Clean Up' Prisons

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya highlighted the hectic case of a video of a shabu party at Tanjung Raja Prison, Ogan Ilir (OI), South Sumatra (Sumsel).

Willyan asked for a thorough improvement, aka cleaning up prisons (Lapas) considering the many cases that occurred.

"Of course there needs to be an examination of the video maker and the head of the prison properly, not only regarding the viral case. Is the situation true or not," Willy Aditya told reporters, Tuesday, November 19.

Willy assessed that there was a need for massive reforms from the ranks of prison officers and their officials. This is intended so that the authorities can create a new, better program.

"The term is that we have to clean together in prisons from a culture that may not have been good before. All of that must be addressed with a humanist approach," said Willy.

The leadership of the Commission in the DPR in charge of reform matters for law enforcement and community development also assessed that prison reform was needed because so far there have been many cases involving prisons in Indonesia.

Therefore, Willy encouraged the prison problem to be resolved comprehensively.

"We will be tired if we solve cases per case. The DPR and the Minister work comprehensively to solve problems in these Indonesian prisons," he said.

As is known, recently went viral on social media a video showing inmates being free to use cell phones to drug parties in the Tanjung Raja Ogan Ilir Prison. The video was shared by a prison officer named Robby Adriansyah.

Later, Robby made a video clarifying and admitted that he was sanctioned by mutations because he spread the video. The prison said Robby spread hoaxes. Even so, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections had confirmed that there were inmates in the prison who turned on the remix music so hard, then recorded it. The officer guarding the prison at that time was Robby.

Not only that, Robby is also reported to be a drug addict and is currently under treatment. He is also said to be absent from work for decades.

Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto has asked the Head of Prison Security (KPLP) to be disabled in order to be examined.

Minister Agus also asked Robby to be processed and will be rehabilitated if he is indeed a drug addict, and is ready to be used as a justice collaborator if what he said on social media about prisoners can actually happen.

Related to this, Willy appreciated the steps taken by Minister Agus by examining the case fairly.
