Only 29.9 Percent Of Government BLT Programs Are On Target

JAKARTA - IPO Executive Director Dedi Kurnia Syah assessed that only 29.9 percent of people receiving direct cash assistance (BLT) programs during the COVID-19 pandemic are on target. The figure was obtained from the survey results of the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) survey institute from March 2020 to April 2021.

"It is quite interesting because throughout the program, it turns out that only 29.9 percent of the public stated that cash assistance was on target. While 51.3 percent declared it inappropriate," Dedi said in a virtual discussion "Evaluation of Cabinet and Political Map 2024", Saturday, April 10.

Although low, but the survey said that 59 percent of respondents said the cash assistance provided by the government to the public is quite effective. Therefore, beneficiaries can still spend according to their needs.

"This means that cash assistance even if it is considered not on target, but it is also considered effective. Because the recipient can spend according to the needs," he explained.

Meanwhile, the results of a survey of food delivery programs conducted by both the central and local governments, the community that stated that the target is 61.7 percent. However, that also found it inappropriate at 63 percent.

"So on average all programs are considered the problem is in the inaccuracy of the recipient," said Dedi.

In addition, out of 1,200 respondents only 23 percent of the public declared the government program, namely The Prakerja Card on target, and 32 percent declared effective.

"It means that the Prakerja program has been considered inappropriate and considered also ineffective, which is 44 percent declared ineffective," he explained.

Therefore, Dedi asked the government to evaluate the performance of the relevant ministries in charge of running aid programs in order to be more precise in the future.
