FABA Has The Potential To Become A New Primadona In Industrial Development

JAKARTA - FABA designation for solid waste from coal burning, considered quite potential in the development of the national industry. Therefore, the government is required to immediately make technical instructions utilization of FABA.

"The Indonesian Electricity Society appreciates the support of the PWI ranks for the legality obtained by FABA as non-toxic waste, as determined by the government", said Chairman of the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI), Wiluyo Kusdwiharto in a webinar discussion held by PWI, Friday, April 9.

The PWI Jaya Series Forum webinar "Optimizing FABA benefits for economic development" was held amid growing concern about the usefulness of coal waste. Especially after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) signed Government Regulation (PP) Number 22 of 2021 on the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management, which removes coal waste from the category of hazardous and toxic waste materials (B3).

The PP is a derivative rule of Law No. 11 of 2020 on Copyright Work. Based on attachment 14 PP No. 22 of 2021 mentioned, the types of coal waste removed from the B3 waste category are fly ash and bottom ash.

In its utilization, FABA becomes the focus to support the development of the industry. Including heavy industry, for example in the land sector.

"FABA is not only used as paving-block or brick, but also for heavy industries such as airports, or other construction", he added.

In line with the Deputy for Coordination of Environmental and Forestry Management of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Dr.Ir. Nani Hendiarti, M.Sc, expressed the legality of FABA as the raw material for industrial development and development.

Meanwhile, environmental observer, Prof.Dr.Ir.H.Fachrurrozie Sjarkowi, M.Sc, stated that FABA's activities are now fostering opportunities as well as challenges. Academician from Unsri, Palembang, presented some of his research results related to FABA. The results of his research, among others, legitimize that FABA materials can be utilized for environmental development. "FABA material is not dangerous", Fachrurrozie said.

"The utilization of FABA for manufacturing and infrastructure is not in doubt", said Fachrurrozie. However, for agriculture, research and research must still be done.
