JAKARTA - The South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office summoned The Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Scholars Association (ICMI) Jimly Asshidiqie on Monday, April 12, in the case of alleged corruption of The Sriwijaya Mosque. The case has named four people as suspects.

Kasi Information Law Attorney General (Kejati) Sumsel Khaidirman said Jimly was examined as a witness because of his capacity as chairman of the Sriwijaya Mosque Foundation.

"The witness (Jimly) will be examined at the Attorney General's Office," Khaidirman said in Palembang, reported by Antara, Friday, April 9.

He added that the diversion of the examination in Kejagung was Jimly's request that the investigation not be hampered by distance, but it was ensured that the examination was still carried out by Pidsus Kejati Sumsel team.

Meanwhile, in the corruption case of Sriwijaya Mosque, it has summoned dozens of figures and officials involved in the committee and foundation of Sriwijaya Mosque.

Including former Governor of South Sumatra Alex Noerdin who has been called twice, but has not attended the examination, his party also doubled down on Alex's call next week. "Alex's examination remains in Kejati Sumsel," he said.

South Sumatra's High Prosecutor's Office investigators have detained four suspects in the alleged corruption of the construction of the Sriwijaya Mosque, which allegedly cost the country up to Rp130 billion.

The four are former Chairman of Sriwijaya Edi Hermanto Mosque Development, KSO of PT Brantas Abipraya Ir. Dwi Kriyana, Head of Syarifudin Auction Implementation Division and power of KSO Adipraya-PT Yodyakarya Yudi Wahyoni.

Sriiwjaya Mosque which has become the largest mosque began to be built in 2009 and has absorbed grants sourced from the Sumsel Budget totaling Rp130 billion in 2015-2017.

The mosque, which was built on nine hectares of South Sumatra Provincial Government land, requires funds of up to Rp668 billion, but the construction has only completed the basic foundation and is now mangkrak.
