3 Dpr Recommendations For Pertamina After Balongan Indramayu Refinery Fire

JAKARTA - Commission VII of the House of Representatives gave 3 recommendations for immediate action by stakeholders after the incident of burning T-301 tanks containing gasoline with a capacity of 23,000kl at the Pt Pertamina (Persero) Balongan Unit VI Refinery in Indramayu, West Java.

First, Commission VII requested that public roads too close to the refinery area be closed. Then, create an alternative path.

Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives Sugeng Suparwoto said that his party has conducted checks and found the fact that the oil refinery area is outside the ideal boundary to community interaction.

"The public road in front of this vital object is too close, so we recommend that it should be closed and there should be an alternative road for the community," Sugeng said, Friday, April 9.

That's why, continued Sugeng, if something like yesterday's incident happens, it will be fatal for the surrounding community.

"Especially when it comes to hazardous chemicals that are invisible but actually dangerous," explained Sugeng.

Second, Commission VII recommended to Pertamina to relocate the residence of residents who are too close to this vital object.

He advised all stakeholders to sit together including residents to be relocated to a safer, more comfortable place and economically the community continues to carry out its activities as before.

"We also found the fact that this security system should be more than just the current one, mainly because of dominant factors such as climate chance. It is true that currently the construction of this factory including tanks has been designed also as a lightning rod. So there must be a standard of lightning security for the tropics, as it is today that has been built in Cilacap," explained the politician NasDem.

"The events of all this are also our learning as a nation, that these major projects must be familiar with accurate decisions because the indications are great to all things," continued Sugeng.

Third, added the central Java legislator, Pertamina's major project should have direct implications to the surrounding community. He also got a report from the Deputy Regent of Cilacap, it turns out that balongan area stunting figures are quite high.

"We have been in discussions with pertamina for corporate social responsibility (CSR) so that we can focus on various things for the surrounding community. Overcoming stunting is a shared responsibility, be it the local government including pertamina that is here.
