JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has been asked to immediately include Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin on the wanted list (DPO). Moreover, the whereabouts of the Governor of South Kalimantan are not known since he was named a suspect.
"KPK must include Uncle Birin in the DPO. Why? Because until now his whereabouts are unknown," said UGM Center for Anti-Corruption Studies (Pukat) researcher Zaenur Rohman to reporters quoted on Friday, November 8.
Zaenur said that Uncle Birin's unclear whereabouts interfered with the ongoing legal process. "Why? Because until now his whereabouts are unknown. Even though a suspect must be examined, must be questioned and so on to expedite the investigation process," he said.
"In fact, the tradition at the KPK should have been detained. Well, its whereabouts are unknown," continued Zaenur.
In fact, Zaenur said, the search for Uncle Birin should cooperate with the police. Thus, the search can be carried out more thoroughly because the position is unknown.
"KPK can ask for help from the Police who have more complete infrastructure so that the first step is to enter the DPO," he said.
Meanwhile, the KPK has not included Uncle Birin in the wanted list (DPO). They are still focused on conducting domestic searches.
"So far, we are sure that the person concerned is still in Indonesia because we have (asked, ed) to take precautions. (The Directorate General of Immigration, ed) has issued prevention. Well, we will look for it too," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted on Thursday, November 7th.
Asep said investigators had made plans, including looking for Uncle Birin. So, about Uncle Birin's entry into the DPO, it's just a matter of time.
"So we have the terms. The deadline is that we are looking for it. Then after a certain time we are looking for it, we think maybe this can go anywhere, abroad or where we are going, we will make the next effort," he said.
Previously reported, the Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin, was unknown after being named a suspect in alleged bribery. This determination was made after the KPK conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Sunday, October 6.
"Until now, the respondent is still searching for the whereabouts of the applicant," said KPK Legal Bureau Team Niar Siregar when responding to Uncle Birin's pretrial lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court (PN), Tuesday, November 5.
"The Respondent has issued Order (Sprinkap) 06 and a Decree from the KPK leadership regarding the prohibition of traveling abroad, but the whereabouts of the applicant are not yet known and are still being searched," he continued.
Uncle Birin was appointed along with four other people as recipients. They are the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Ahmad Solhan (SOL), the Head of Cipta Karya as well as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Yulianti Erlynah (YUL), the Management of the Tahfidz Darussalam House as well as the collector of money or fee Ahmad (AMD) and Plt.
