French Foreign Ministry Summons North Korean Diplomat On Deployment Of Troops To Russia

JAKARTA - France's Foreign Ministry summoned North Korean diplomats in France last week to protest against the deployment of its country's troops to Russia by warning there would be consequences.

"We are ready to react decisively through coordination with our partners," said French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoine.

Lemoine said France summoned North Korean diplomats in France on October 28. In the meeting, France confirmed North Korea's support for the Russian war would not be left without a response.

France has no diplomatic relations with North Korea, but a general delegation is accredited at UNESCO, the UN cultural body, based in Paris.

Earlier the United States said North Korea had sent thousands of troops to Russia and was ready to join the war in Ukraine on the part of Moscow. Russia does not justify or deny their presence.
