Abraham Samad Et Al Collect The KPK's Promise To Follow Up On Allegations Of Corruption From Jokowi's Family

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad demanded the anti-corruption commission's commitment to investigate allegations of corruption involving the family of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

This was conveyed by Abraham when he visited the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Thursday, October 31. He was present with a number of activists who are members of the Civil Society Coalition.

"It was reported two years ago, then the case reported by Mr. Petrus from TPDI and then from other friends, Mr. Marwan. Then the reported cases that were discussed were suspected cases involving Mulyono's family," Samad told reporters.

Samad said that his party had asked the KPK leadership about the alleged corruption. "Because we see that there has been a long time, yes," he said.

"As a former KPK leader, I can calculate that this has been going on for a long time. It looks like it should, yes, if the ideal can be increased to an investigation," continued Samad.

Meanwhile, former Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Saut Situmorang said the Civil Society Coalition wanted cases suspected of involving Jokowi's family to be investigated immediately. Moreover, the leadership of the state is currently in the hands of President Prabowo Subianto, who is considered to have a desire to eradicate corruption.

"So then we are also excited to see how the KPK will go forward," said Saut at the same location.

"Okay, those cases may not be able to be resolved in this period. Therefore, the challenge in the future is how people who come to the KPK between themselves and God. I always say that. He is not remoted by anyone in this country," he concluded.
