Rapid Test Finds Hundreds Of Police In Setukpa Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Hundreds of students from the School for the Formation of Officers (Setukpa) or the Police Inspector School (SIP) of the National Police Institute in Sukabumi City, West Java, are indicated to have contracted the corona virus or COVID-19 after testing positive based on the results of mass rapid tests. Previously, it was reported that 7 SIP students were positive for corona.

Karo Penmas DivHumas Polri Brig. Gen. Argo Yuwono said, although the rapid test results were positive, these students did not show any symptoms of respiratory problems.

"There are 300 (students) positive for rapid antibody test in the body. So far, the conditions are still normal and improving," said Argo to VOI, Wednesday, April 1.

Argo explained that these hundreds of students would be treated the same as people under monitoring (ODP), namely quarantined or isolated for the next 14 days and given vitamin C and other treatments.

Furthermore, he added, students will also undergo a swab test to confirm the presence of the corona virus in their bodies.

Meanwhile, the school also dismissed 1,250 other students who were negative from this test.

"After that, a swab will be carried out to find out whether the person concerned has the corona virus or not," said Argo.

Kapusdokkes Polri Brigjen Musyafak added, X-rays of the students' lungs did not show any indication of pneumonia. "Everything is within normal limits. It means that the signs of COVID-19 with pneumonia are negative," said Musyafak.

Furthermore, on the 15th day after isolation and undergoing treatment, hundreds of students will be examined using PCR to really determine whether they have contracted COVID-19.

"Once a week, we inject vitamin C. Then at the end of the 15th day we will carry out a PCR examination to find out whether it is indeed positive for COVID-19 or not," said Musyafak.
