JAKARTA - Iraq is angry that the Israeli military violated its airspace when it carried out a series of attacks on Iran on Saturday last weekend.

A spokesman for the Iraqi government said Iraq had sent a letter of protest to the United Nations condemning alleged Israeli violations.

The Iraqi government reaffirms its firm commitment to Iraqi sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. This will not allow Iraqi airspace or mainland to be used to carry out attacks on other countries, especially neighboring countries that have a sense of mutual respect and mutual interest with Iraq, "said Basim Alawdi spokesman in a statement quoted by CNN, Monday, October 28.

Israel said on Saturday, October 26, it attacked military targets in Iran in response to previous Iranian attacks.

Asked if Israel used Iraqi airspace, the Israeli military said they could not explain further than what had been published.

Iran previously claimed Israel used Iraqi airspace to carry out attacks and accused the US of involvement.

The US said it had been notified of the attack but was not directly involved.

According to an Iraqi statement, the Iraqi prime minister had asked the country's foreign ministry to convey alleged Israeli violations to US officials.
