4 Transgenders In Batam Arrested For Promoting Online Gambling, Profit Of IDR 7.5 Million Every Month

The Riau Islands Police (Kepri) arrested four transvestites for being an ambassador for online gambling promotions on social media. It is known, these four transvestites have 17,000 followers on social media.

From online gambling promotion activities, they can reap a profit of between IDR 4.5 million to IDR 7.5 million per month.

The four transvestites with the initials SS, DA, FZ, and RA were secured by officers on Sunday, October 20, after officers received information from residents about the activities of the online gambling site on the perpetrator's Instagram account.

From the perpetrators, the police confiscated evidence in the form of 6 units of cellphones, ATM cards, account books, and Instagram accounts that were used as online gambling promotions.

Dirkrimsus Polda Kepri Kombes Pol Putu Yudha Prawira said the modus operandi of the transvestites by endorse online gambling sites using Instagram accounts with varying profits and bonuses.

These four transvestites are residents from North Sumatra and Palembang (South Sumatra). "We arrested four suspects in online gambling endorsement whose role was to promote online gambling sites to the public," said Putu Yudha.

These transvestites get various benefits from promoting the online gambling site. "From this endorsement activity they get profits ranging from IDR 1.3 million to IDR 7.5 million. It varies depending on how many times they endorse the online gambling site," said Putu Yudha.

The four transvestites were not residents of Batam City, and came on vacation. "We are still investigating this information," he explained.

According to the confession of one of the transvestites with the initials FZ, he received an offer from someone named Fernandez via chatting on his Instagram account. FZ admitted that he had endorsed online gambling sites three times on his social media.

I posted an online gambling site for two months and I received three wages via transfer from Fernandez. I have received money for three months of around IDR 4.6 million," he concluded

The four perpetrators were subject to sanctions for violating the ITE Law Article 45 paragraph (3) with a penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to Rp 10 billion.
