JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Johar Baru Police named S (54) as a suspect after molesting a grandfather with the initials YM (70), his neighbor to death.

"Suspect S was charged with Article 351 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code regarding the persecution that caused the victim to die, with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison," said Johar Baru Police Chief, Kompol Saiful Anwar to reporters, Tuesday, October 22, evening.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Mohammad Rasid, explained that the incident occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

This incident was triggered by the habit of victims with the initials YM who often littered near their homes, Jalan Rawa Selatan V, RT 06/07, Kampung Rawa, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.

The commotion started with a warning from the perpetrator who had just returned from selling coffee around. The perpetrator reprimanded the victim not to throw garbage at the location.

However, the reprimand actually sparked a debate that led to a fight between the perpetrator and the victim. S then hit the victim several times until the victim fell unconscious.

"One hour after the report was received, the police managed to secure suspect S without a fight. The evidence confiscated was visum et repertum, CCTV footage, a hat with the initials MR belonging to the suspect, a black shorts, and a pair of black Lily leather sandals," he said.

Currently, the suspect is in the detention cell of the Johar Baru Police.
