Rizieq Shihab's Objection Was Rejected, The Reason For The Indictment Of The Prosecutor Was In Accordance With The Rules

JAKARTA - The judges at the East Jakarta District Court have a number of reasons for rejecting Rizieq Shihab and his team of lawyers' objection notes in cases of suspected crowds and violations of health protocols (prokes) in Petamburan and Megamendung.

One of the reasons was that the indictment prepared by the public prosecutor was declared by the panel of judges in accordance with the provisions.

"The public prosecutor's indictment has met the provisions of Article 143 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code," said head of the panel of judges Suparman Nyompa during a hearing at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, April 6.

Another reason, the points in the exception of Rizieq Shihab and the team of lawyers according to the judge have already been included in the subject matter of the case.

"The chronology of the case has been included in the subject matter of the case. The police or the prosecutor's office that has turned a blind eye to other events, such as the defendant's exception, are not included in the scope of objections as referred to in Article 156 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, so they must be disregarded," said the judge.

With the rejection of the exception, Rizieq Shihab's trial was continued with examination of witnesses. The prosecutor plans to present 11 witnesses in the Megamendung and Petamburan cases.

Some of the witnesses who will be presented are the former Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief to the Mayor of Central Jakarta.

"(Witnesses to be presented) Heru Novinato (former Head of Central Jakarta Metro Police), Bayu Meghantara (Mayor of Central Jakarta), and Safrin Liputo (Kadishub DKI Jakarta," said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, the other 8 witnesses did not come from state officials. It is suspected that they were the ones who had banned any event that would create crowds.

"(Other witnesses) Oka setiawan, Jecky M Aveno, Budi cahyono, M Soleh, Rianto Sulistyo, Rusdian, Sabda Kurnianto, and Erikson T.," said the prosecutor.
