JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi revealed the priority of tasks he will carry out while leading Jakarta after being inaugurated today for the next few months.

One of them is flood prevention. Teguh admitted that he would run a program to anticipate the impact of flooding because it is currently entering the rainy season.

"What is very close is that it has been a 'ber berber' month. This means that we also have to prepare for the rainy season, how do we anticipate, for the minimum there may not be any disturbance related to the flood problem. That's what we have to deal with," said Teguh at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 18.

In addition, Teguh admitted that he would ensure that the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada in Jakarta on November 27, 2024 would run honestly, fairly, dignifiedly, and with integrity.

"Pilkada must certainly be able to run as well as possible, especially since Jakarta is also a barometer from various regions in Indonesia," said Teguh.

On the one hand, Teguh ensured that he would continue the policies and work programs that had been carried out by Heru Budi Hartono and observe the unresolved problems in Jakarta.

"We will pay close attention to various breakthroughs that may exist. Of course, we really hope for input from all elements of society," he added.

For information, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian officially inaugurated Teguh Setyabudi as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta replacing Heru Budi Hartono. Before being elected by President Joko Widodo, Teguh's name was included in the proposal of the DKI DPRD and the Ministry of Home Affairs to replace Heru, whose term ended on October 16.

During the inauguration, Tito Karnavian revealed the reason Jokowi did not again appoint Heru to continue the position of Acting Governor of DKI, who only had a few months left until the Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta as a result of the 2024 Pilkada was inaugurated.

Tito assessed that Heru must focus on carrying out his duties as Head of the Presidential Secretariat during the transition from President Joko Widodo to Prabowo Subianto. So, Heru can no longer hold two positions as he has been running for the past 2 years.

"He (Heru) will regulate everything related to the matter of changing the president's transition. Including regulating us later if the events related to the agenda are from Mr. Prabowo. Indeed, the concentration of the community will be very full there. So, a new official is needed in the midst of his focus in a very important transition like this," explained Tito.

Tito asked Teguh to learn a lot about the procedures for the Jakarta government to Heru to carry out his duties as the new Acting Governor of DKI.

However, Tito emphasized that it does not mean that he doubts Teguh's capability to lead Jakarta. Considering that Teguh had served as Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Acting Governor of North Kalimantan, Director General of Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"You need to learn a lot from Mr. Heru, although I do not doubt Pak Teguh's ability. Pak Teguh is a pure bureaucrat and I consider it successful," said Tito.
