Police Investigate Viral Motor Trail Prokes Prokes Violations In Garut On Medsos

JAKARTA - The Garut Resort Police has deployed a team to investigate cases of violations of health protocols (prokes) in a trail bike activity that triggered a crowd in Cibalong District, Garut Regency, West Java, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Activities that have the potential for the spread of COVID-19 will certainly be disciplined, especially since there is no permit or recommendation from the COVID-19 Task Force team," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Adi Benny Cahyono in Garut, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 5.

He said the police immediately summoned the committee to undergo an examination related to the activity that invited the crowd.

"The committee plans to be summoned by investigators," said the Police Chief.

Regarding the threat of sanctions for violating the health protocol rules, he said, it is not yet known, because it is still waiting for the results of the examination against the committee.

"We will see from the results of the examination, which rules or elements of the article were violated," he said.

Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan stated that the trail bike activity in Cibalong District was the fourth time, but the activity is currently inviting many people in the field.

The committee of the event, he said, had notified the Garut Regency Government, then were invited to comply with health protocols, but in fact there were many visitors and crowds of people.

"The participants were booming, it was extraordinary that the target of 1,500, which turned out to be more than three thousand (people) with animos because they came from all over the place," said the Regent.

Previously, on social media and the WhatsApp group in Garut Regency, it was busy discussing trail bike activities that invited traffic jams and crowds in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This activity surprised a number of Garut residents who questioned the assertiveness of the local government and law enforcement officials in enforcing the discipline of health protocols in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We question why there is such an event, there is a crowd in a pandemic situation," said Hendi, a Garut resident.
