JAKARTA - Imam Besar Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar admitted that he was surprised when he was summoned to come to the residence of Elected President Prabowo Subianto and asked to help as a minister in the upcoming cabinet.

"I really was very careful. I didn't expect it and I was surprised, I never imagined it," Nasaruddin Umar told reporters as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 14.

Nasaruddin admitted that there had never been any discussion about the position of minister with Prabowo or people around the Gerindra Party before.

However, on Monday at around 18.00 WIB, he received an invitation from Prabowo Subianto's aide to come to Kartanegara.

He was then asked by Prabowo to help him in the future cabinet.

"I never thought, I never imagined. I only worked professionally in my field in Istiqlal and in college as a lecturer," he said.

Regarding the ministerial position offered by Prabowo, Nasaruddin was still reluctant to mention it. However, he ensured that his duties would not be far from his activities in the religious field.

"I don't think it's far from my daily life. Yes, later he will explain," he said.
