The Regional Office Of The Ministry Of Religion Of South Sulawesi Corrects The Prohibition Of Marriage On Holidays

The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of South Sulawesi Province (Sulsel) helped straighten out a viral video prohibiting marriage on holidays related to the Regulation of the Minister of Religion Number 22 of 2024 concerning Marriage Registration.

"In accordance with the explanation of the Ministry of Religion Spokesperson, Anna Hasbie, that there is no policy to prohibit the implementation of marriage outside the KUA, both on weekdays and holidays," said Head of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Religion H Muhammad Tonang in Makassar, quoted from Antara, Sunday, October 13.

As the extension of the Ministry of Religion in South Sulawesi Province, his party helped straighten out the rules, which in fact did not limit brides and grooms from holding weddings outside the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), either on weekdays or holidays.

Only the implementation of marriage in KUA is basically carried out during working hours which are valid from Monday to Friday. Outside of that day, the KUA did not serve weddings in the office.

However, what must be known, he continued, is only the operations of the KUA Office outside Monday to Friday that are not operating, but the penghulu officers can still carry out their duties outside office hours.

Quoting Anna, the Head of the Regional Office of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Religion said that marriage registration services have been regulated in the law.

So, as long as they meet the applicable requirements, the couple can still have a wedding at the designated location, both houses of worship, hotels, buildings, and so on.

In this regard, his party helps socialize to the public regarding the Regulation of the Minister of Religion Number 22 of 2024 so that there are no more misunderstandings among the public regarding the applicable marriage rules

The regulation has been stipulated on October 7, 2024, and is valid for the next 3 months after being stipulated, namely January 7, 2025. In the regulation, one of the articles, namely article 16, states that the marriage contract at the District KUA can only be held on days and hours.
