Komnas Perempuan: Different Arts Of Femicuda That Many Women Experience

JAKARTA - Commissioner of the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas), Siti Aminah Tarbi said that the term Femicuda and also the murder of women have different meanings.

"If Femicuda has gender violence or murder or has strong gender motivation," said Siti Aminah Tarbi during the 'Komnas Perempuan - Femicide in Indonesia: Realita, Challenges, and Solutions' online in Jakarta, Saturday.

According to him, this term has actually been commonly used since 1976. The first time the term appeared was spoken by a feminist writer, Diana EH Russell.

In fact, this Femicide violence can be committed by both sexes, but is often carried out by Adam's people against the Eves.

Siti Aminah Tarbi explained that in her indications, Femicuda was divided into uda as direct (direct) and also indirect (indirect) which in the end resulted in death due to violence experienced by victims.

"Femicuda has two categories, Direct and Indirect. It's basically the same, because it causes death to women," he explained.

He continued, the deaths experienced directly were like the murder of a woman due to Domestic Violence (KDRT), the murder of a woman who was targeted for war, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

In addition, deaths categorized as live areas such as ethnic killings of certain ethnic groups as well as acts of violence committed by abortion.

Meanwhile, which is indirect, he said, such as in maintenance activities that are not directly handled, due to cultural practices such as circumcision in women to drug trafficking even though.

Therefore, to prevent this from happening in Indonesia, Komnas Perempuan since 2017 has been monitoring the practice of the Femicuda crime.

Komnas Perempuan is indeed charged with creating a conducive situation for the elimination of violence against women, and the enforcement of women's human rights in Indonesia.

"Since 2017, we have indeed continued to promote and use the word Femicuda," he said.
