MA: Proposal To Increase Salaries To Judge Allowance Approved By Minister Of Finance Sri Mulyani

JAKARTA - Spokesperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Non-Judicial Division of the Supreme Court Suharto stated that the proposed salary change to the judge's allowance had been approved by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.

"The latest information, on October 3, the Minister of Finance's principle of approval has been issued," Suharto said when receiving an audience with the Indonesian Judge Solidarity (SHI) at the Supreme Court (MA) building, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 7.

Suharto explained that in the academic paper of the Supreme Court, there were actually eight points of change proposed to the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB).

The changes are related to Government Regulation Number 94 of 2012 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges under the Supreme Court.

However, the PANRB Ministry only handed over four points to the Ministry of Finance, including basic salary proposed to increase by 8'15 percent, pensions up by 8'15 percent, office allowances up by 45'70 percent, and expensive allowances.

Four proposed Supreme Courts that have not been accommodated by the Ministry of PANRB, namely state housing facilities, transportation, health, and honorarium for accelerating case handling.

However, after the process with the Ministry of Finance, only three proposals from the Ministry of PANRB were agreed upon, namely basic salary, pensions, and job allowances. Especially expensive allowances will be fought for at other times and ways.

According to Suharto, expensive allowances require further study and collaboration with other law enforcement officers, so that it takes longer.

In order not to interfere with the proposed increase in the other three points, the expensive allowance is postponed.

"At the direction of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, yes, there are already three, later the expensive allowances will be fought for again," he said.

He explained that the draft new draft government regulations related to the judge's financial rights will soon be prepared. The finished draft will later be harmonized at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"The process is like making government regulations in general," said Suharto.

On Monday, the Supreme Court facilitated an audience with SHI. In the audience forum attended by the leadership of the Supreme Court, the Judicial Commission, the Indonesian Panel Association (IKAHI), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), SHI submitted four demands.

First, changing Government Regulation Number 94 of 2012; second, encouraging the Draft Law (RUU) of Judges to be re-discussed; third, the Bill on Contempt of Court or Humiliation of Court can be realized immediately; and fourth, asking for a government regulation that guarantees the safety of the judge's family.
