It Takes Time, Jokowi Asks The Public Not To Rush About Moving The Capital City

NUSANTARA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the public not to rush to request that the capital city be immediately moved from Jakarta to the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) of East Kalimantan. Jokowi is worried that if the relocation of the capital city is forced, the results will not be maximized.

"Just moving the house is complicated like that, this is moving the capital city so don't chase it, so we're not ready to force it, in the end it's not good," said Jokowi after attending the Nusantara TNI Fun Run at IKN, East Kalimantan, Sunday 6 October.

According to him, moving the capital city should run naturally by ensuring the readiness of existing infrastructure and ecosystems. He also mentioned that the relocation of the capital city will be carried out slowly and gradually.

"I think this is normal, natural, so that all ecosystems are built, hospitals, schools, for logistical matters everything is already there, then slowly we also slowly move it. So that everyone feels comfortable here," he added.

Jokowi also mentioned that later the Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the transfer of the State Capital should be signed by the next government. As is known, Prabowo Subianto as the elected president with the elected vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be officially sworn in as of October 20, 2024.

"Yes, it should be like that, the new president, Pak Prabowo," he said.
