Suicide And Terror Bombing Case At National Police Headquarters, MUI NTT: Islam Doesn't Teach People To Kill

JAKARTA - Chairman of the East Nusa Tenggara Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI NTT) Abdul Kadir Makarim said that in the teachings of Islam, there is never a teaching that says killing people is an act that is justified by Allah.

"Islam has never taught that killing people with suicide bombings or harming people is a commendable act. It has never been taught by Islam," said Abdul Kadir in Kupang as quoted by Antara, Friday, April 2.

This statement was made in response to the suicide bombing carried out by a terrorist group in Makassar as well as the attack at the Police Headquarters by ZA (25) at the Police Headquarters, Wednesday, March 31 yesterday.

He explained that Islam is a religion that is rahmatan lil alamin (a blessing for the universe), and it strictly prohibits actions such as suicide bombings, especially killing fellow humans for no apparent reason.

"Not a few people claim to be Muslim, but their character or behavior does not reflect Islam, including carrying out suicide bombings," he said.

According to him, this suicide bombing was not only prohibited in Islam as described in the hadith. In the hadith which means as follows, whoever strangles himself (to death), then he will be strangled in hell.

"And whoever stabs himself (to death) will stab himself in hell (hadith narrated by Bukhori number 1365)," he said.

He also appealed to Muslims in NTT not to get involved with various cursed actions carried out by various parties in the name of Islam.

He added that the NTT MUI strongly condemns the various suicide bombings and terrorist attacks that have injured many people.
