The Elected Son Of The Minister Of Law And Human Rights Becomes Deputy Chairperson Of The MPR 2024-2029 From The DPD Elements

JAKARTA - The Regional Representative Council (DPD) finally appointed Abchandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman as deputy chairman of the MPR from the DPD element. The eldest son of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Supratman Andi Agtas was appointed after being elected through the results of the voting or voting conducted through two rounds of the DPD plenary meeting, Thursday, October 3.

"Thus, the most votes and declared elected to represent the DPD in the MPR as deputy chairman of the MPR are Abchandra Akbar," said Deputy Chairman of the DPD Tamsil Linrung as chair of the meeting, Thursday morning.

The process of selecting the deputy chairman of the MPR from the DPD group took place in two rounds. The reason is, in the first decision, there were no candidates for deputy chairman of the MPR from the DPD group who reached the plus one vote.

In the first round, Abchandra Akbar won over five other candidates by getting 45 votes. Meanwhile, Fadel Muhammad received 38 votes, Daud Jordan 29 votes, Agustin Teras Narang received 17 votes, AA Ahmad Nawardi received 13 votes, and Maya Rumantir one voice. The total number of votes was 143 DPD.

"Thus, ladies and gentlemen, because this does not reach 50 plus 1 then we will do a re-voting for the second round, the one entering the second round is Abcandra with Fadel Muhammad. The fifth and sixth sequence numbers," said Tamsil.

In the second round, Abchandra again won over Fadel Muhammad who was the deputy chairman of the MPR for the 2019-2024 period. Abcandra Akbar won 93 votes and Fadel Muhammad only 50 votes.

It is known, today, the MPR held a plenary meeting to determine the chairman and deputy chairman of the MPR for the period 2024-2029 at the DPR building, the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta. This MPR plenary meeting is scheduled to be held starting at 10.00 WIB.

The chairman of the MPR for the next 5 years has been agreed upon by the previous leadership of the faction and representatives of the DPD, namely the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani. Muzani will be accompanied by eight deputy chairmen of the MPR. A number of names of representatives of the faction have been said to be deputy chairmen of the MPR, namely Bambang Pacul (PDIP), Rusdi Kirana (PKB), Kahar Muzakir (Golkar), Edy Soeparno (PAN), Hidayat Nur Wahid (PKS) and Lestari Moerdijat (Nasdem).

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the MPR from the Democratic Faction has not been disclosed to the public. Then, the deputy chairman of the MPR for the 2024-2029 period from the DPD group is Abchandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman.
