Easter, Minister Of Religion Yaqut: Let's Open Hearts And Care For Others

JAKARTA - The Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, invited all Christians in the country to strengthen their sense of concern for others in the momentum of the Easter commemoration.

"Let's open our hearts and care for others. This value is very important, especially in the midst of a pandemic that has plagued the nation for more than a year. Concern is like a fertilizer so that faith does not die, and it is part of the meaning and form of repentance," said the Minister of Religion in his written statement, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 1.

Christians are celebrating the Easter Trihari or the Holy Trihari. This moment begins with Holy Thursday, Good Friday and ends with Easter Sunday. Previously, Christians had also celebrated Palm Sunday.

The Minister of Religion invited Christians to make Easter values the spirit of building society. This is done by caring more for others, especially those experiencing difficulties.

"Love your neighbor as yourself," he said.

In celebrating Easter, Yaqut appealed to keep implementing health protocols and discipline in wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.

According to him, discipline in prokes and 5M is part of the sacrifice to jointly protect oneself, family and society so as not to catch COVID-19.

"Let's pray together, that the COVID-19 pandemic can be resolved soon so that people can return to their normal lives," he said.
