Israeli Defense Minister: We Continue Operations To Eliminate Hezbollah Terrorists

JAKARTA - Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said his military had additional missions to complete in its fight against Hezbollah.

"We have additional missions to complete to ensure the safe return of the northern Israeli community to their homes. We will continue to make Hezbollah lose balance and deepen their losses," he said.

Gallant's remarks came as the US and its allies urged a ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border to prevent a massive regional war outbreak.

Gallant said he met with top military officials on Thursday, September 26 to approve a planned operation in the northern region, referring to Israel's part of the border with Lebanon.

"We are continuing our series of operations: eliminating Hezbollah terrorists, dismantling Hezbollah's offensive infrastructure, and destroying rockets and missiles," Gallant said.

Israel has launched a series of airstrikes in most parts of Lebanon as its conflict with Hezbollah escalates.

The Israeli military pledged to accelerate the "offensive operation" against Hezbollah without a suspension of punishment. Troops on Wednesday, September 25 held a simulation exercise of land fighting in Lebanon, which the military did not rule out.
