Ministry Of Defense Will Collab With Influencers To Create State Defense Content

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) will gather a number of YouTubers or influencers on other social media platforms to create concepts of state defense and nationalism in their content.

The Ministry of Defense's plan to collaborate with YouTubers or influencers was conveyed by the Special Staff of the Minister of Defense for Public Communication and Inter-Agency Relations, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak. However, he didn't know when the plan was to gather them.

According to him, the concept of defending the country will be easier for the public to understand when the content collaborates with YouTubers and influencers who have many followers. That way, the concept of nationalism will be more easily accepted by the community.

"We have indeed planned to gather influencers, YouTubers, artists to help the Ministry of Defense amplify the spirit of state defense and nationalism to various groups," Dahnil told reporters via text message, Tuesday, November 26.

"Our friends have the ability and strength to convey messages to the common people," he said.

In addition to the theme of defending the country, Dahnil said, YouTubers and influencers will be invited to create content with the theme of love for the country and attitudes of nationalism. "Now, we just need to amplify so that the message of nationalism can reach the people below through the great works of our artists," he explained.

One of the influencers on Twitter who likes to create historical content, @mazzini_giusepe agrees with the Ministry of Defense's intention to collaborate with influencers and create nationalism-themed content. However, he did not agree that the Ministry of Defense's invitation led to the mandatory military program.

"If the content is in the form of nationalism, all kinds of things are fine. Not for the military (to defend the country). Moreover, I read that Pak Prabowo wants to be in the army, it's for students, right. I don't agree with that," Mazzini told VOI.

Likewise, the manager of the MindPlace Studio YouTube channel, which has 386 thousand followers and one of its videos, namely GTA San Andreas Realistic-Indonesia, was watched by 8.6 million viewers, agreed with the Ministry of Defense's wish. According to one of the managers, this proposal is positive and should be supported.

"Yes, if I'm really positive (support). You can also advance in digital terms," he said.

Even though it will partner with YouTubers and influencers, the concept of defending the country is actually unclear. During a joint working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian Parliament, Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto did not explain the concept further.

According to him, this concept is being finalized to be reported to President Joko Widodo immediately. The plan, this concept will be reported in January 2020.
