16 Ukrainian Zaporizhia Residents Injured In Russian Attack

JAKARTA - 16 civilians were injured, including a 15-year-old boy in Russian airstrikes in Zaporizhia.

Zaporizhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said there were seven Russian airstrikes on the surrounding cities and districts. Attacks damaged 13 apartment buildings, educational institutions, cars, garages, and private residences.

Rescue teams evacuated residents from several damaged apartment buildings, Ukraine's Interior Ministry said via Telegram.

The ministry said based on preliminary information, Russia used guided aerial bombs to attack Zaporizhia.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the report. There has been no direct statement from Russia.

Fedorov said Russia had carried out a total of 363 air and land attacks in the past day against 12 settlements in the wider Zaporizhia region, where the city of Zaporizhia became its administrative center.

Ukraine's emergency services posted a video on Facebook's yard showing rescue teams trying to clear the debris and unblock an entrance to an apartment and treat injured people at night in front of a damaged residential building.

Russia also launched two guided air missiles and four attack drones targeting Ukraine overnight, Ukraine's air force said on Monday.

Three of the drones were shot down in the northeastern region of Sumy, the air force said via Telegram.

Two missiles and one drone did not reach the target due to an active anti-aircraft missile defense from the Ukrainian Defense Force, the air force said.
