Indonesia-Nepal Sign Two Cooperation Agreements, Foreign Minister Retno: Intensify Interaction Between The Two Countries

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the signing of a cooperation agreement between Indonesia and Nepal intensified the interaction between the two countries.

That was said by Foreign Minister Retno after the signing of the Diplomatic Visa Free Agreement and the Office as well as the Establishment of the RI-Nepal Bilateral Consultation Mechanism with its counterpart Nepal's Federal Democratic Republic Foreign Minister Dr. Azru Rana Deuba on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly High-level Week in New York, United States, on Sunday (22/9).

"These two agreements will intensify interaction between government officials of the two countries, as well as increase bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Nepal, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism," said Foreign Minister Retno, in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday (22/9).

In a bilateral meeting held at the Permanent Mission office of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York, the two Foreign Ministers discussed a number of important bilateral issues related to cooperation in the field of renewable energy development, strategic industries, tourism, clean water management, democratic forums and support for the nomination of each country in multilateral forums. In addition, the two Foreign Ministers also discussed joint efforts that could be made by the two countries in advancing women's rights in Afghanistan.

In turn, Nepal's Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's and Nepal's increasingly strengthened bilateral relations, as well as hopes that cooperation between the two countries can continue to be improved. In particular, Nepal's Foreign Minister invited Indonesia's investment in tourism and hydropower development in Nepal.

Foreign Minister Retno welcomed the cooperation agreement between Indonesia and Nepal, expressing her hope that the cooperation could produce concrete results that benefit the people of the two countries.
