Prabowo's Cabinet Zaken Is Considered Just A Political Gimic

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Erapol, Khafidlul Ulum, assessed that the formation of cabinet zakan by the elected president, Prabowo Subianto, was only a political gimmick and would be difficult to realize.

"If you want to pay more attention, the plan will be difficult to materialize and only political games so that the future government is imaged as a good government, serious about managing the country, and providing good service to the people," he said, Sunday, September 22, 2024.

He explained that the first reason Prabowo's plan to form a zaken cabinet was that it was difficult for Prabowo to realize it was because he had to consider the national political reality. In cabinet zaken, it should be only experts or professionals who fill the ministerial position, not representatives of political parties.

"The ideal condition of cabinet zaken will not be in accordance with the existing political reality. It is impossible for Prabowo to leave his supporting political parties in compiling a cabinet," he said.

The second reason, continued Khafidlul, was that Prabowo would still share his seats and positions with his supporting coalition during the 2024 presidential election. Moreover, the initial coalition of supporters was a fat coalition, not to mention the addition of political parties that had just joined.

One of the goals of the political parties to join is to get a quota of ministers or heads of institutions in the government later. Why do they support and join if they do not get a position in government," he said.

He revealed that although internal political parties may have experts who become cadres, usually they are not members of the elite or senior political parties, so it is considered not yet time to become ministers. If this is forced, there will be internal friction because the elite political parties who should have been appointed as ministers actually bounced, explained Khafidlul.
