338 Karhutla Hotspots In Sumatra, BMKG Detects 175 Points In South Sumatra

PekanbarU - The Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected 338 hotspots of forest and land fires (karhutla) in the Sumatra region, eight of which were in Riau.

All hotspots are spread across seven provinces, namely Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, Lampung, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and Bangka Belitung.

Forecaster on Duty BMKG Pekanbaru Putri Santy Siregar said the highest hotspots were in South Sumatra (Sumsel), Jambi and Lampung.

"There are 13 points in Bengkulu, 42 points in Jambi, 59 points in Lampung, 175 points in South Sumatra, one point in North Sumatra, 40 points in Bangka Belitung and eight points in Riau," he said, Friday, September 21.

He detailed, specifically in Riau, there are four districts that contributed hotspots, namely Bengkalis one point, Kampar two points, Rokan Hulu three points, and Indragiri Hilir two points.

Meanwhile, the weather in Pekanbaru City and its surroundings from morning to night is expected to be sunny. Rain with light to moderate intensity is predicted in parts of Bengkalis Regency, Meranti Islands, Siak, Pelalawan and Indragiri Hilir.

The visibility in Pekanbaru and its surroundings ranges from 6 to 7 kilometers. Then, the information on airworthiness particulates in Pekanbaru City and its surroundings is relatively good. The graph shows a figure of 48.10 grams/m3 or touching the blue line with a moderate category.
