Bulungan Police Chief, Kombes Agus Nugraha through the Head of Public Relations of the Bulungan Police, Ipda Magdalena Lawai, said that land burning was carried out by land owners for gardening or farming.

"The owner of the land with the initials JT, the perpetrators of land burning are DN (36), SS (50) and JI (29)," said Magdalena.

"As a result of not being able to control the fire, the area of the land burned was about 2 hectares. Local residents then contacted the firefighters," he continued.

"Considering that it is currently a field burning season for people who are farming but must be careful, especially since the burned land is quite large," said the Police Chief.

In addition, residents are also advised to prepare fire extinguishers or make restrictions on land that will be burned, such as ditches, water reservoirs or other facilities to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the boundary.

"There are already regional regulations (Perda) that only allow to burn land for a maximum of 2 hectares," he explained.

"If a criminal act is found related to forest or land fires, it will be processed according to the applicable laws and regulations," he said.
