BANDUNG - Anies Baswedan is confirmed to have failed to advance as a candidate for governor (readgub) from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in the 2024 West Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub).
Chairman of the West Java PDIP DPD Ono Surono revealed the cause of Anies Baswedan's failure because of a large force figure who tackled him.
"Why did it fail (to carry Anies Baswedan)? We face a very big challenge, hands that do not approve of Pak Anies are carried by the PDI-P," he said after completing the registration of the Jeje Wiradinata and Ronal Surapradja pairs at the West Java KPU, Friday 30 August.
In fact, Ono admitted that his party believed that Anies was a national figure born in Kuningan, West Java who was able to build and improve West Java after seeing a good track record while leading Jakarta.
"We are sure that Mr. Anies is a leader who can solve all problems in West Java. However, this enormous strength has ultimately prevented Mr. Anies from being promoted by the PDI-P," he said.
This, according to Ono, is a process that is an inseparable part and is the authority of the PDIP DPP.
"Of course, he really has the desire of Mr. Anies to be carried in West Java, after he was not carried in Jakarta," he said.
Ono admitted that the West Java PDIP DPD did not know exactly the process carried out by the PDIP DPP and General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding the decision.
"We assess that those who have narrowed up and eventually disbanded are because there are hands from outside who do not want Pak Anies to be carried in West Java," he explained.
Ono revealed that the West Java PDIP DPD had never communicated with Anies. The reason is because it is related to recommendations, which include communication with prospective candidates, fully under the authority of the DPP.
"So Mr. Anies has no communication with the West Java DPD," he said.

Regarding Anies' refusal to be carried in West Java by PDIP, said Ono, all of this was part of the process that occurred a few days ago. "Lastly we received news that Mr. Anies was willing to be promoted by PDIP in West Java," he said.
Ono was unable to describe in detail the irregularity of Anies. However, his party believes that the irregularity can be seen from Jakarta to the case in West Java.
"Friends can interpret themselves and what it looks like, but that's a fact we all experience," he said.
