The pair Edy Rahmayadi and Hasan Basri Sagala officially registered as candidates for governor and deputy governor of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) to the General Election Commission (KPU) of North Sumatra Province on Thursday 29 August 2024.
Both expressed their readiness to compete against the pair Bobby Nasution and Surya in the 2024 North Sumatra (North Sumatra) Pilgub.

After registration, Edy Rahmayadi stated that he and Hasan Basri Sagala together with their supporting parties were ready to fight against the pair Bobby Nasution and Surya.
"There is no story of a son-in-law or not. We will fight anyone who advances. This is about the nomination of governors in North Sumatra between Edy and Bobby," said Edy at the North Sumatra KPU.
Edy also explained his vision and mission if he was elected as Governor of North Sumatra, including continuing previous programs such as education development, infrastructure, agriculture, livestock, and tourism.
"The programs that we will continue include education, infrastructure, agriculture, livestock, and tourism," said Edy.
