KPK Can't Just Call Kaesang Without Evidence Because It's Plesir To The US Using A Private Plane

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) cannot simply call certain parties without holding evidence. They do not want to be an arbitrary institution.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to a request to summon President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son, Kaesang Pangarep, who was with his wife, Erina Gudono, to travel abroad using a private plane. Recently, many netizens have questioned their departure because it was allegedly facilitated by other parties.

"If investigators call because one, maybe there is an order, then the KPK will become an arbitrary institution," Tessa told reporters quoted on Friday, August 30.

Tessa said all the steps taken by her institution must be based on a legal framework. "Just like KP's brother who is currently viral, we don't ignore it," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

In addition, public complaints are still reviewing incoming reports. One of them is from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) who suspects that Kaesang traveled on a paid plane by PT Shopee International Indonesia.

As previously reported, Kaesang Pangarep, who is the youngest child of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his wife, Erina Gudono, is in the spotlight for boarding a private jet to the United States. In addition, Jokowi's son-in-law also uploaded a luxurious lifestyle while in the US.

Erina at that time did not only upload the moment of boarding a plane to the United States. He also uploaded a photo of eating bread for Rp. 400 thousand and a baby streller allegedly for tens of millions of rupiah.

The two were also highlighted after allegedly carrying luxury groceries from the United States without Customs and Excise checks. In the video circulating, both of them got off the Gulfstream N568SE jet directly to the Toyota Alphard car parked on the plane's apron.
