Jokowi Admits Pramono Anung's Candidacy In The Jakarta Regional Head Election Permits Himself

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo emphasized that the advancement of Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada is a political right in question. "Yes, it is the political right of Pak Pramono Anung and PDIP and everything must have had a political calculation, there have been political calculations, I think deciding like that is not an easy thing," said the President on the sidelines of a working visit quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 28. President said Pramono as Seskab had asked him for permission to run in the election, two days ago, or shortly after being appointed by the PDI-P to run. Regarding whether or not Pramono needed to resign from the position of Cabinet Secretary, the President emphasized that currently new registrations were made. "Wong has just been registered," said Jokowi. Previously, Pramono in his statement during registration as a candidate for governor and deputy governor with his partner Rano Karno at KPUD DKI Jakarta, Wednesday, stated that he had asked the President for permission twice for his steps to run in the Pilkada. "Personally because I am currently still serving as Cabinet Secretary in the government of Pak Jokowi and Pak Ma'ruf Amin, I have conveyed and asked for permission to the President twice," said Pramono.

According to him, the President spontaneously encouraged him to come forward. He also stated that he had obtained permission from his wife and family, and the most important thing was the blessing and support from the Chairperson of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri.
