PDIP Denies Anies Signs Jakarta Governor Election Forward Integrity Pact

JAKARTA - PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah denied Anies Baswedan signed an integrity pact to run in the Jakarta Pilkada. Said emphasized that there has been no political agreement between PDIP and the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

Said emphasized this in response to the circulation of photos showing himself and Anies Baswedan seeing PDIP DPP chairman Ahmad Basarah sign a document. Said explained, the photo is in the context of friendship between friends.

"We cannot avoid that, because we are alone with Mas Anies, together with Mas Basarah, friendship as friends is nothing more than that," said Said, Tuesday, August 27.

"And there are no political missions and so on. Because if it's a political mission, like it or not, it must be approved by the party's DPP," he continued.

According to Said, it is normal for fellow politicians to build communication with each other. Moreover, he said, Anies as a figure who is currently building a relationship with any party.

"So for us it's something positive," he said.

As for the documents in front of the three, Said said the documents were only a note. He emphasized that there has been no political agreement from the PDIP with Anies.

"Mas Anies holds the paper, something is recorded, it's normal. That's not a collection of paper deals. How is it possible that in my class, Mr. Basarah's class then made an agreement with Mr. Anies?" he said.

Said also denied that the document was an Integrity Pact so that Anies would commit to PDIP if he wanted to be promoted as a Jakarta governor. He said, if there was an integrity pact, then of course Anies had been announced as a candidate promoted by PDIP.

"Wah ma'am, if the pact is integrity and so on, it means being a candidate, right, the position is really friendly," said Said.
